Carl Barone was born in 1932 in Camden, New Jersey.
1940s
He began his shoe career as a stock boy at age 12 at Shapiro Shoes in Camden, and eventually selling shoes at Ricky's Shoes in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
1950s
Carl married his high school sweetheart Loretta in 1952. Shortly thereafter, Carl proudly served in the military.
1950s-1960s
Carl opened his own shoe store in 1958 in Moorestown, New Jersey. It wasn’t long before he and his family settled there as well.
1960s-1970s
With a desire for all his customers to have shoes that fit comfortably, Carl quickly earned a reputation for quality shoes and superior customer service.
1980s
As the number of customers visiting this destination store grew, so did Carl's Shoes. In 1982, Carl bought the property next door and doubled in size.
1980s-1990s
Carl’s Shoes could now offer his customers more brands and more styles for every member of the family. Plus, provide custom and prescription footwear to customers throughout the Delaware Valley.
2000s
Carl Barone is as well known, for his commitment to the community and neighbors as he is for selling shoes.

In 2005, a fire destroyed Carl's Shoes. Carl and the store were such a vital part of the community that a local business allowed Carl's Shoes to operate out of its basement while the store was rebuilt.
2000s
When Carl’s Shoes reopened in its original location at 27 Main Street, it was bigger and better than ever.
Today
Although times have changed, Carl's Shoes has remained a family business providing quality footwear for men, women and children. And today three generations continue the Carl's Shoes philosophy to provide "Shoes that are fitted…not just sold".
